Research Summary:
Mainly, I have  been working  in the areas of database systems, Web mining and  ICTs (information and communication technologies) for agricultural  development. In database systems, I  proposed improved  algorithms to synchronize transactions in distributed and replicated databases. I also worked on speculative locking protocol to improve the performance of database systems  by  trading  extra processing resources. In Web mining, I am making efforts to improve the  performance of search engines by extracting community knowledge from the World Wide  Web using graph theoretic approaches. Regarding ICTs for agricultural development, I am  making efforts to develop agricultural information dissemination system to  improve the productivity of the Indian farming community by disseminating  personalized  expert advice and advanced information about pest attacks. Ongoing Research Projects:
The following are the on-going research projects:
  • Agricultural Projects
    1. e-Sagu: An IT-based Personalized Agro-Advisory System
         ( http://agriculture.iiit.ac.in/esagu/ or   http://www.esagu.in/esagu)
Under this project, we are making efforts to build an IT-based personalized agriculture extension system to provide personalized agriculture expert advice to the Indian farming community.
    2. Pest Prediction Systems
In this project we make an effort to understand pest population dynamics and build pest prediction systems by applying data mining techniques on pest surveillance data set of Helicoverpa Armegira, Bacterial Leaf Blight, Groundnut leaf miner regarding Chickpea, Pegionpea, Cotton, Groundnut, and Rice crops. This project is carried out in collaboration with ICRISAT, Patancheru, Hyderabad (India) and CRIDA, Hyderabad (India).
  • Other Projects
    1. Point-to-Point Bus Transport System
Trends in wireless technology have resulted in most of the commuters owning cell phones. By providing timely bus route and arrival information to these cell phones, it is possible to improve the bus occupancy. We have taken an initiative in this direction by building an automated bus information system for Hyderabad (India)city, which gives optimal paths given source and destination information.
    2. Indian Movie Recommendation System
In this project we are making effort to design the recommendation system to meet the requirements of Indian movie scenario.
