Aug 1996 - Sept 1997, Senior Consultant. Ascent Computing Group - White Plains, NY, USA.
I was consulting at Citicorp, NYC (May 1997 - Oct 1997) and at Muze Inc., NYC (Sept 1996 - April 1997)
At Citicorp I maintained and enhanced a very important private banking application. Major part of the work is Re-engineering the existing application by obtaining the data and the object models from the source code using software re-engineering techniques and tools. An enhanced object model for the current application is designed. Continuous support for running the old application is provided.
At Muze Inc., I designed and developed a multimedia system for managing music, video, and books related information. The system provides information about phonolog and videolog, a huge data repository of music and video respectively.
Aug 1993 - Aug 1996 CSIR, Govt. of India, Senior Research Fellow.
I conducted research at University of Hyderabad with funding from CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) for an advanced degree on a metaphor interpretation model that can process major non-literal sentences. This model, which is applicable to all human languages, parses the sentence using a semantic processor that makes use of linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge. This model involves schema for representing knowledge at morphological, lexical, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic levels.
June 1991 - Aug 1993 Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, India Project Engineer
Real world Machine Translation System: Key member of the development team that built first ever real world machine translation system that works between any two relatively free word order languages. This system was tested for all major languages in India. My work includes development of morphological analyzer, parser, lexicon, and customization of the natural language generator.
Jan 1991 - May 1991 National Center for Software Technology, India
I was a team member of a project on “Machine Translation System for news stories from English to Hindi”. I participated in the development of prototype machine translation system that first pre-processes incoming news stories from a leading Indian news agency, parses and stores it in an intermediate representation, which is then translated into the target language. I was involved in the development of pre-processor, morphological analyzer and lexicon maintenance modules. |
