Research Interests

My interests are in the areas of Data Mining, Database Systems and Artificial Intelligence. But actually, I like to work on almost any high impact problem that is simple to state and difficult to solve.

Teaching

Since 2004 at IIIT Hyderabad, I have taught courses on a wide range of topics:
  1. Data Warehousing & Data Mining
  2. Artificial Intelligence
  3. Scripting Languages (Unix-shell, Python, Sed, Awk)
  4. Software Technologies
  5. Digital Logic Design
  6. Advanced Problem Solving (i.e. C, Data Structures, Algorithms)
  7. Human Values

Education

I did my schooling at the Lawrence School, Lovedale, a beautiful historic school in Ooty. Here is a picture of my school. I did my graduation (B.Tech in Computer Science & Engg) from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in Hyderabad and completed my Ph.D on the Efficient Discovery of Concise Association Rules from Large Databases (advisor: Prof. Jayant Haritsa) at the Indian Institute of Science(IISc), Bangalore.

Other Interests

I like Carnatic music - I can't sing, but I play Veena. I enjoy practicing Yoga asanas. Sometimes I get hooked onto Computer games. I also enjoy philosophy. See the following articles that I have written - The Greatest Argument of All and To Feel Good, Do Good!.
